MACOMB, Ill. (Interstat) ā A surging Western Illinois squad looks to continue its dominant season when it hosts an Arkansas-Little Rock team seeking revenge on Thursday night in a womenās NCAA Division I basketball clash at Western Hall. The Leathernecks (20-4), coming off a 93-49 rout of Eastern Illinois on Tuesday, boast one of the nationās top records. They will face a Trojans team (12-12) that snapped a two-game skid with a 73-64 win over SIU Edwardsville on Feb. 7. Western Illinois won the first meeting this season handily, 75-59, in Little Rock on Jan. 17. In that game, Leathernecks star Mia Nicastro poured in 28 points. The guard has been on a tear, averaging 24.4 points over her last five contests, including a 33-point performance in a loss to Tennessee State on Feb. 7. Arkansas-Little Rock will counter with forward Jordan Holman, who posted a 22-point, 14-rebound double-double in the teamās most recent win. Holman, who scored 17 points in the first matchup against Western Illinois, has been a consistent force, scoring in double figures in eight straight games. The Leathernecks have been nearly unbeatable at home this season, while the Trojans have struggled on the road, including a 92-54 loss to Lindenwood on Feb. 5. Western Illinoisā balanced attack, which features Addi Brownfield (11 points, 6 assists last game) and Madison Davis (12 points), will test a Trojans defense that allows an average of 64.5 points per game. A key for Arkansas-Little Rock will be containing Nicastro and improving its ball security after committing 18 turnovers in the January loss. For Western Illinois, maintaining its defensive intensity after holding its last opponent to 49 points will be the focus. Tipoff is set for Thursday, Feb. 12, 2026, in Macomb.
