JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (Interstat) — A pivotal ASUN Conference women’s basketball clash with postseason implications is set for Thursday when the Jacksonville Dolphins host the Stetson Hatters at Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena. Both teams enter with identical 15-win records, though Jacksonville (15-7, ASUN) holds a slight edge in the standings over Stetson (15-8, ASUN). The matchup features two of the league’s top performers in a critical late-season contest. The Dolphins are powered by forward Priscilla Williams, who is coming off a dominant 30-point, 16-rebound performance in an 81-70 road win at Florida Gulf Coast on Feb. 7. Williams has been a force, scoring 44 points in a Jan. 15 overtime win and averaging 22.4 points over her last five games. Her versatility as a scorer, rebounder and shot-blocker anchors Jacksonville’s attack. Stetson counters with guard Cameron Thomas, who has led the Hatters to three consecutive victories. Thomas scored 21 points in a win at North Florida on Feb. 5 and added 17 points in a blowout of Bellarmine last Saturday. The Hatters have won four of their last five, with the only loss a narrow 86-81 defeat to Austin Peay on Jan. 24. Jacksonville has won four of its last five, including a key road victory at Austin Peay on Jan. 31. The Dolphins’ defense has been stout, holding three of their last five opponents under 70 points. The teams will meet again in DeLand on Feb. 25, but Thursday’s game carries significant weight for conference tournament seeding. Stetson will look to avenge a pair of losses to Jacksonville last season, while the Dolphins aim to protect their home court and solidify their position near the top of the ASUN. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST.
