COMMERCE, Texas (Interstat) — A pair of Southland Conference teams sharing the Lions nickname will meet Thursday when Texas A&M-Commerce hosts Southeastern Louisiana in a women’s basketball matchup at Texas A&M-Commerce Field House. Texas A&M-Commerce (11-10, 7-3 Southland) enters with momentum, having won four of its last five games to sit near the top of the conference standings. Southeastern Louisiana (4-18, 2-8) seeks to build on its first winning streak of the season after consecutive victories over Incarnate Word and Houston Christian last week. The visiting Lions from Hammond, Louisiana, are led by guard Aliyah Collins, who is coming off a triple-double performance. In a 68-61 win over Houston Christian on Feb. 7, Collins logged 32 minutes with 13 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and a block. She has scored in double figures in five of her last eight contests. Commerce counters with its own dynamic guard in Reza Po, who has been a focal point of its recent surge. Po scored 33 points in a win over New Orleans on Jan. 29 and added 24 points against Nicholls State two days later. She played all 40 minutes and tallied 14 points and five assists in the team’s most recent victory, a 61-52 decision over Northwestern State. The teams’ most recent meeting was a nonconference affair on Nov. 22, 2025, which Southeastern Louisiana won 76-71 at home. Thursday’s game marks their first conference clash of the season. Texas A&M-Commerce has been strong at home in league play, while Southeastern Louisiana has struggled on the road, losing its last six away games prior to this contest. The outcome could hinge on which backcourt star, Collins or Po, can better dictate the tempo for their respective teams. Tipoff is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 12, 2026.
