NEWARK, Del. (Interstat) — A Conference USA rematch awaits when the Delaware Blue Hens host the New Mexico State Aggies in a women’s basketball contest Thursday night at the Bob Carpenter Center. The teams met just over a month ago, with New Mexico State (8-15) edging Delaware (11-12) 64-57 in overtime in Las Cruces on Jan. 4. The Aggies will look to complete the regular-season sweep, while the Blue Hens seek home-court revenge. New Mexico State enters on a two-game skid, including a 77-58 home loss to Louisiana Tech on Saturday. The Aggies have struggled on the road this season, with their last away victory coming at Western Kentucky on Jan. 8. Delaware has lost two of its last three, most recently falling 61-58 at Jacksonville State on Saturday despite a dominant performance from forward Lay Fantroy. The Blue Hens have been stronger at home, posting a 7-4 record in Newark this season. A key matchup will feature two of the conference’s top performers. New Mexico State guard Imani Warren is averaging 16.4 points over her last five games, including a 21-point, 9-rebound effort at UTEP on Jan. 31. For Delaware, Fantroy is coming off a 20-point, 16-rebound double-double and has been a consistent force in the paint, recording a double-double in two of her last four contests. Both teams are looking to improve their positioning ahead of the conference tournament next month. Delaware currently sits a half-game ahead of the Aggies in the league standings. Thursday’s tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST.
