Preview: Lipscomb Bisons at Bellarmine Knights LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Interstat) — Two ASUN Conference women’s basketball teams seeking momentum will meet Thursday when the Lipscomb Bisons visit the Bellarmine Knights at Knights Hall. Lipscomb (8-15) enters having lost two straight, including a 47-60 defeat at Central Arkansas on Saturday. Bellarmine (2-23) looks to halt a 12-game losing skid following a 41-76 loss at Stetson, also on Saturday. Despite their records, both teams feature dynamic scorers capable of carrying the offensive load. The Bisons will lean on guard Taylor Bowen, who is coming off a 19-point, 7-rebound performance against Central Arkansas. Over her last eight games, Bowen has averaged 12.5 points, including three outings of 17 points or more. The Knights counter with guard Ava Smith, their most consistent offensive threat. Smith scored 19 points in the loss to Stetson and has averaged 13.3 points over her last six contests. Her scoring will be crucial for a Bellarmine squad that has struggled to find consistent offense, having been held under 50 points in 14 games this season. Lipscomb has shown an ability to win on the road in conference play, securing victories at Florida Gulf Coast and Austin Peay last month. Bellarmine is 1-9 at home this season, with its lone win coming against non-Division I Wilberforce on Dec. 29. The Bisons won the season’s first meeting in Nashville 67-42 on Jan. 8. In that game, Lipscomb’s defense held Bellarmine to 25.9% shooting from the field. Thursday’s matchup is the first of a home-and-home series to close the regular season. The teams will meet again in Nashville on Feb. 25. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST. Lipscomb visits Queens (N.C.) on Saturday, while Bellarmine hosts Central Arkansas.
