Preview: Wyoming Cowboys at UNLV Runninā Rebels LAS VEGAS (Interstat) ā The UNLV womenās basketball team, riding a wave of momentum, will host struggling Wyoming in a Mountain West Conference matchup Wednesday night at the Thomas & Mack Center. The Runninā Rebels (16-7 overall) enter on a two-game winning streak, most recently a 71-60 road victory at Utah State on Feb. 7. UNLVās success has been fueled by forward Shelbee Brown, who delivered a historic performance in that win, recording 21 points and 21 rebounds. Over her last five games, Brown is averaging 16.2 points and 12.8 rebounds, providing a dominant interior presence. Wyoming (8-15) seeks to halt a three-game skid, including an 83-54 loss at Colorado State on Feb. 7. The Cowboys have struggled offensively during the losing streak, failing to score more than 54 points in any of the three contests. Guard Jane Rumpf will be a focal point for Wyoming; she scored 16 points in the loss to Colorado State and has shown scoring bursts, including a 17-point performance in a win over Air Force on Jan. 17. UNLV defeated Wyoming decisively in their first meeting this season, an 82-53 victory in Laramie on Jan. 10. The Rebels have won four of their last five games overall and boast a 9-2 record at home this season. Conversely, Wyoming is 2-9 in road games. The matchup pits UNLVās conference title aspirations against a Wyoming team looking to rediscover its early-January form, when it won four of five games. Containing Brown on the glass and generating consistent offense will be paramount for the visiting Cowboys to pull an upset on the road. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. PST Wednesday.
