Preview: Struggling San Jose State Faces New Mexico in Mountain West Clash ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (Interstat) — The New Mexico Lobos look to rebound from a disappointing offensive performance when they host the struggling San Jose State Spartans in a Mountain West women’s basketball game Wednesday at The Pit. New Mexico (16-8) enters the contest after a 63-35 road loss to Boise State on Saturday, a game in which the Lobos shot just 23.2% from the field. Prior to that defeat, New Mexico had won four of its previous five conference games, including a 58-33 rout of Utah State on Jan. 31. The Lobos will rely on forward Cacia Antonio, who is averaging 7.0 points over her last seven games. She posted 12 points and three rebounds in the win over Utah State. San Jose State (3-21) seeks to end a five-game losing streak, most recently an 81-52 home loss to San Diego State on Saturday. The Spartans’ last victory was a 60-57 win over Nevada on Jan. 21. Guard Maya Anderson has been a consistent bright spot for San Jose State during its skid, scoring in double figures in six of the last seven games. She tallied a team-high 16 points in the loss to San Diego State. The teams met earlier this season in San Jose, with New Mexico cruising to an 89-51 victory on Jan. 3. The Lobos have dominated the recent series, winning the last eight matchups. New Mexico holds a significant advantage in the standings, sitting in the upper half of the Mountain West, while San Jose State resides at the bottom. The Lobos are 9-2 at home this season, while the Spartans are 1-10 on the road. Following this game, New Mexico will host Colorado State on Saturday. San Jose State travels to face Air Force on Saturday.
