Preview: Lehigh at American Womenâs Basketball WASHINGTON (Interstat) â A surging Lehigh team visits a struggling American squad in a Patriot League womenâs basketball matchup Wednesday night at Bender Arena. The Mountain Hawks (12-10) have won three of their last four games, including a 73-61 victory over Holy Cross on Saturday. They will look to continue their momentum against the Eagles (6-17), who have lost four of their last five. Lehigh is led by guard Belle Bramer, who is coming off a 21-point performance against Holy Cross. Over her last seven games, Bramer is averaging 13.3 points, including a 15-point, five-rebound effort in a narrow loss to Colgate on Jan. 31. She provides consistent scoring punch for a Mountain Hawks offense that has topped 70 points in two of its last three wins. American will counter with forward Charlotte Tuhy, a dominant force in the paint. Tuhy is averaging a double-double over her last seven contests, highlighted by a 22-point, 17-rebound, five-block performance in a win at Colgate on Jan. 21. In the Eaglesâ most recent game, a loss to Navy, she recorded 12 points and 15 rebounds. Her ability to control the glass will be critical against Lehigh. The teamsâ season trajectories have diverged in conference play. Lehighâs recent form has them climbing the Patriot League standings, fueled by offensive contributions beyond Bramer. Gracyn Lovette and Whitney Lind combined for 30 points and 8 assists in the win over Holy Cross. American, meanwhile, has struggled to find consistent offense outside of Tuhy. The Eagles have been held under 60 points in six of their last eight games. Defensive intensity, particularly in limiting Bramerâs penetration and securing defensive rebounds, will be a priority for the home team. This is the first of two regular-season meetings between the programs this season. They will meet again in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, on March 4. Wednesdayâs game tips off at 7 p.m. EST. Following this contest, Lehigh will travel to face rival Lafayette on Saturday, while American will visit Army.
