PHILADELPHIA (Interstat) — A pair of Atlantic 10 women’s basketball teams trending in opposite directions will meet Wednesday afternoon when the Saint Joseph’s Hawks host the George Washington Revolutionaries at Hagan Arena. Saint Joseph’s (15-8, 6-4 A-10) looks to rebound from a tough home loss, while George Washington (13-12, 5-5) aims to halt a slide that has seen it lose three of its last four contests. The Hawks fell 75-73 to Dayton on Saturday despite a career-high 29 points from junior guard Gabby Casey. Casey, the conference’s second-leading scorer at 19.2 points per game, has been a consistent force, averaging 22.4 points over her last five outings. The Revolutionaries are coming off a 68-58 loss at Davidson, their second straight road defeat. They will lean on senior guard Sara Lewis, who poured in 25 points in that contest and is averaging 16.3 points per game in conference play. Lewis’s scoring punch will be vital for a GW offense that has been held under 60 points in four of its last six games. Defensively, George Washington will face a significant challenge containing Casey and a Saint Joseph’s squad that averages 64.5 points per game. The Hawks have defended their home court well this season, posting a 9-3 record at Hagan Arena. The Revolutionaries are just 4-7 in true road games. In the first round of conference play, Saint Joseph’s holds a half-game edge in the standings and seeks to solidify its position for a first-round bye in the upcoming Atlantic 10 tournament. George Washington, meanwhile, is in a tight cluster of teams fighting for seeding and needs a quality road win to stabilize its campaign. Wednesday’s matchup tips off at 7 p.m. EST and will be broadcast on ESPN+. Following this game, Saint Joseph’s travels to Loyola Chicago on Saturday, while George Washington returns home to host La Salle.
