Huskies Host Bluejays in Big East Showdown HARTFORD, Conn. (Interstat) — The undefeated and top-ranked Connecticut Huskies put their perfect record on the line Wednesday when they host the Creighton Bluejays in a Big East women’s basketball matchup at XL Center. UConn (25-0, 12-0 Big East) has dominated all competition, winning each game by an average of 41.6 points in conference play. The Huskies are coming off an 80-48 rout of Butler on Saturday, where Allie Ziebell scored 11 points. The freshman guard is averaging 11.1 points per game and is coming off a 34-point performance against Xavier on Jan. 28. Creighton (12-12, 7-6) arrives with momentum from a four-game winning streak, including an 80-74 overtime victory over Marquette on Sunday. Senior forward Grace Boffeli powered that win with 23 points and 14 rebounds. Over her last seven games, Boffeli is averaging 13.7 points and 6.9 rebounds. The Huskies have owned this series, winning the last meeting 95-54 in Omaha on Jan. 11. In that game, UConn forced 22 Creighton turnovers and held the Bluejays to 30.2% shooting. For Creighton to challenge the nation’s best, they will need to replicate their recent defensive intensity and limit turnovers against UConn’s relentless pressure. The Huskies lead the nation in scoring margin and field goal percentage defense. The game tips off at 7 p.m. EST and will be broadcast on SNY. It is the first of two meetings between the teams in three days, with a rematch scheduled for Friday at Gampel Pavilion in Storrs.
