SHELBY, N.C. (Interstat) — Two teams seeking momentum in the Big South Conference will meet Wednesday when the Gardner-Webb Runnin’ Bulldogs host the Charleston Southern Buccaneers in a women’s basketball matchup. Both teams enter Paul Porter Arena with identical 8-16 overall records. The game is a rematch of a Jan. 17 contest in Charleston, which Gardner-Webb won 52-45. Charleston Southern arrives after its most dominant performance of the season, an 88-62 home victory over Presbyterian on Feb. 7. The Buccaneers are led by standout guard Tyonna Bailey, who is averaging 21.0 points per game over her last six contests. She recorded a 26-point, 13-rebound double-double in the win over Presbyterian. In the first meeting against Gardner-Webb, Bailey was held to 13 points. Gardner-Webb is coming off a narrow 72-69 home win over Winthrop on Feb. 7, powered by a 27-point effort from Amina Gray. The guard was also pivotal in the first matchup with Charleston Southern, scoring 16 points in 37 minutes. Gray has been inconsistent lately, however, scoring just three points in each of her two games prior to the Winthrop victory. The Buccaneers have shown a high-scoring capability, surpassing 85 points twice in recent weeks, but have also been held under 50 points twice in their last five games. Gardner-Webb’s defense, which limited Charleston Southern to 45 points last month, will be tested by Bailey and a Buccaneers offense that shot efficiently in its latest outing. According to National Statistical’s ELO system, Gardner-Webb is projected with a 64% probability to win on its home floor. The game is scheduled for a 6 p.m. tip-off Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2026. Both teams continue conference play on Saturday, with Charleston Southern visiting High Point and Gardner-Webb traveling to Presbyterian.
