SAN ANTONIO (Interstat) — Two American Athletic Conference teams seeking momentum for a late-season push will meet Tuesday when the Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners host the Temple Owls in a women’s basketball matchup. The game is scheduled for 8 p.m. EST at the Convocation Center (UTSA). Both teams enter with nearly identical records, mirroring their tight contest earlier this season. Temple (10-12, 4-7 AAC) looks to avenge a 50-47 home loss to UTSA on Jan. 3. The Owls are coming off a narrow 69-66 defeat to North Texas on Saturday. Texas-San Antonio (11-11, 5-6 AAC) arrives with more confidence after a commanding 66-47 road win at Tulsa that same day. A key matchup will feature two of the conference’s top performers. Temple guard Kaylah Turner is a dynamic scoring threat, averaging 17.1 points per game over her last seven contests. She erupted for 27 points in an overtime win at Tulane on Jan. 31. For the Roadrunners, forward Cheyenne Rowe provides a consistent interior presence, posting a near double-double of 17 points and nine rebounds in the win over Tulsa. She scored 27 points in a victory over North Texas on Jan. 28. Temple has struggled on the road in conference play, while UTSA has been inconsistent at home. The Owls will rely on Turner and forward Savannah Curry, who added 14 points and six rebounds against North Texas. The Roadrunners counter with Rowe and center Idara Udo, who scored 18 points off the bench in the Tulsa victory. This game carries weight for the middle of the AAC standings. A win would bring Temple level with UTSA in the loss column, while a Roadrunners victory would solidify their position above the Owls as the conference tournament approaches. Temple continues its Texas swing next at Charlotte, while UTSA hosts South Florida next Saturday.
