Preview: Omaha Mavericks at Denver Pioneers DENVER (Interstat) — Two Summit League women’s basketball teams seeking momentum will meet Tuesday when the Denver Pioneers host the Omaha Mavericks at Magness Arena. The Pioneers (9-15 overall) enter the contest looking to snap a four-game skid, most recently a 60-56 home loss to Saint Thomas (Minn.) on Saturday. Denver’s season has been marked by inconsistency, but it holds a clear advantage in the standings over the struggling Mavericks (3-23). Omaha arrives reeling from a 102-51 drubbing by North Dakota State on Saturday, a defeat that extended its losing streak within the conference. The Mavericks’ three wins this season represent the fewest in the Summit League. A key matchup will feature two of the league’s top individual performers. Omaha will lean on guard Regan Juenemann, who is coming off a 14-point effort against NDSU and has been a bright spot, including a 27-point outburst in a narrow loss to Missouri-Kansas City on Jan. 31. She averages 12.1 points per game in conference play. For Denver, forward Jocelyn Medina has been a versatile force. She nearly posted a triple-double in a win over Oral Roberts on Jan. 24, recording 16 points, 13 rebounds and 7 assists. Medina is averaging a team-high 12.2 points in Summit League action and will be a primary focus for the Pioneer offense. Despite their record, the Mavericks have shown fleeting competitiveness, including a 58-54 victory over North Dakota on Feb. 5. Denver, however, has been stronger at home, boasting conference wins over Oral Roberts and Missouri-Kansas City in Denver this season. The Pioneers won the first meeting this season, 65-44, in Omaha on Jan. 3. They will look to complete the regular-season sweep Tuesday night. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. MST at Magness Arena. The teams will conclude their regular-season series in Omaha on Feb. 28.
