Preview: Iowa State Visits BYU in Big 12 Womenâs Basketball Clash PROVO, Utah (Interstat) â A surging Iowa State team looks to continue its climb in the Big 12 standings when the 12th-ranked Cyclones visit the BYU Cougars on Tuesday night. Iowa State (19-5, 9-3 Big 12) enters the Marriott Center having won five of its last six, including a 79-72 road victory at then-Utah on Saturday. The Cyclonesâ offense, averaging 78.2 points in conference play, is powered by sophomore center Audi Crooks. The 6-foot-3 post player is coming off a 26-point performance against the Utes and has scored 20 or more points in four of her last seven games, including a 33-point outing at Texas Tech on Jan. 28. BYU (17-8, 6-6), however, has hit a rough patch in league action, dropping four of its last five. The Cougars are coming off a 77-52 loss at Kansas State where they shot just 30.4% from the field. Senior guard Marya Hudgins, a key contributor, will look to bounce back after being held to 10 points in that contest. BYUâs defense, which allows an average of 67.9 points, will face a significant test against Iowa Stateâs efficient, inside-out attack. The Cyclones have shown resilience on the road in conference play, with notable wins at Utah and Texas Tech. Their balance was on display against the Utes, as guard Jada Williams added 14 points and seven assists alongside Crooksâ big night. For the Cougars, staying competitive will require mitigating Crooksâ interior presence and finding more consistent scoring. They have struggled against top-tier Big 12 competition, with their six conference losses coming by an average of 16.8 points. Tuesdayâs matchup is the only scheduled meeting between the programs this season. Iowa State currently sits in a tie for second place in the Big 12, while BYU is tied for seventh. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. MST. The game will be broadcast on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.
