Preview: East Carolina Pirates at Tulane Green Wave NEW ORLEANS (Interstat) — A surging East Carolina women’s basketball team visits a struggling Tulane squad in an American Athletic Conference matchup Tuesday night at Devlin Fieldhouse. The Pirates (17-7) enter on a high note, having won six of their last seven games. Their most recent result was a narrow 64-62 home victory over South Florida last Wednesday. Guard Jayla Hearp led the way with 18 points, five rebounds and three assists, continuing a strong stretch where she has averaged 12.3 points per game over her last seven contests. She is complemented by consistent contributors Anzhane’ Hutton and Kennedy Fauntleroy, who each added 15 points in the win over the Bulls. Conversely, the Green Wave (8-14) seeks to halt a four-game skid. Tulane is coming off an 85-53 road loss to South Florida on Saturday. Guard Kanija Daniel has been a bright spot, scoring 19 points in that defeat and averaging 13.1 points over her last six games. Tulane’s season has been marked by close defeats, including a 47-44 loss to Charlotte and a 67-65 overtime loss to Temple in recent weeks. The matchup pits one of the conference’s top teams against one near the bottom. East Carolina’s balanced attack, which has seen them score 80 or more points four times in conference play, will test a Tulane defense that has allowed an average of 71.2 points during its current losing streak. Historically, the Pirates have dominated the recent series, winning the last five meetings. Their most recent encounter was a 73-58 victory in Greenville on Jan. 10, 2025. For East Carolina, the game is a chance to solidify its standing near the top of the AAC ahead of a key stretch. For Tulane, it represents an opportunity to play spoiler and gain a signature conference win at home. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. CST. Up Next: East Carolina visits Temple on Saturday. Tulane travels to North Texas on Saturday.
