SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Interstat) — A key Southern Conference women’s basketball clash is set for Friday night as the Furman Paladins visit the Wofford Terriers at Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium. Both teams enter on winning streaks, setting the stage for a pivotal mid-conference season matchup. Furman (13-8) has won four straight, including a 70-62 road victory at Samford last Saturday. Wofford (11-9) has won five consecutive games, most recently a 67-64 win at Mercer. The game features a compelling frontcourt duel between two of the league’s top performers. Furman will rely on Clare Coyle, who is coming off a dominant performance with 13 points, 15 rebounds and six assists against Samford. Over her last eight games, Coyle has been a consistent force on both ends of the floor. Wofford counters with Queen Ikhiuwu, who recorded a double-double of 13 points and 13 rebounds in the Terriers’ last outing. Ikhiuwu has been instrumental during Wofford’s streak, averaging 15.1 points and 8.6 rebounds over her last seven contests. The Paladins’ recent success has been built on defense, holding three of their last four opponents under 60 points. Guard Lauren Bailey, who scored 15 points against Samford, provides a perimeter scoring threat alongside Coyle’s interior presence. Wofford’s offense has found its rhythm during its win streak, averaging 72.2 points over the last five games. Guard Gabby Mundy erupted for 28 points in the win at Mercer, giving the Terriers a potent secondary scorer alongside Ikhiuwu. Historically, the series has been closely contested, adding another layer to this conference rivalry. The teams will meet again in Greenville, S.C., on Feb. 28. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
