Preview: Campbell at William & Mary in Colonial Athletic Association Womenâs Basketball WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (Interstat) â A tightly contested Colonial Athletic Association womenâs basketball race continues Friday when the Campbell Fightinâ Camels visit the William & Mary Tribe at Kaplan Arena. Campbell (13-8 overall, 7-1 CAA) enters with momentum, having won seven of its last eight games, including a 67-61 overtime victory over UNC Wilmington on Tuesday. The Fightinâ Camels also edged William & Mary 45-43 in Buies Creek on Jan. 11. William & Mary (10-8, 4-4) looks to avenge that narrow loss and build on a 55-37 road win at Hofstra on Monday. The Tribe has alternated wins and losses over its past six contests. The Jan. 11 meeting was a defensive struggle, a trend Campbell has sustained. The Fightinâ Camels have held opponents to 61 points or fewer in six of their seven conference wins. Key to that effort is forward Jasmine Felton, who posted 10 points, seven rebounds and a block in the first matchup. Felton is coming off a 10-point, eight-rebound, five-block performance against UNCW. William & Maryâs offense runs through guard Cassidy Geddes, who scored a game-high 18 points in the loss at Campbell. Geddes is averaging 20.5 points over her last two games, including a 22-point outing at Hofstra. Campbellâs recent success has been bolstered by Olivia Tucker, who scored 18 points Tuesday, and Jasmine Nivar. William & Mary will counter with Alexa Mikeska, who had 10 points and five assists against Hofstra, and post player Jana Sallman, who grabbed nine rebounds in that game. The matchup features a contrast in styles: Campbellâs stifling defense versus a William & Mary team seeking offensive consistency. A Tribe victory would provide a key resume boost and even the season series, while a Campbell win would solidify its position near the top of the conference standings. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. EST Friday at Kaplan Arena.
