Preview: Tulane Green Wave at Memphis Tigers MEMPHIS, Tenn. (Interstat) — Two American Athletic Conference women’s basketball teams seeking momentum will meet Tuesday when the Memphis Tigers host the Tulane Green Wave at FedExForum. Both teams enter with identical 8-11 records in all competitions, though their recent paths have diverged. Tulane (8-11) looks to rebound from a 60-70 road loss at Rice on Saturday. Memphis (8-11) is coming off a defensive-minded 52-40 home victory over Texas-San Antonio last Friday. The matchup will feature a compelling duel between standout guards. Tulane’s Kanija Daniel has been a consistent offensive force, averaging 14.1 points over her last eight games. She is coming off a 17-point performance in 30 minutes against Rice. Her ability to score from multiple levels will be crucial for the Green Wave. Memphis will counter with the versatile Daejah Richmond, who nearly posted a triple-double in the Tigers’ latest win, finishing with 9 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists against UTSA. Over her past seven contests, Richmond has averaged 13.3 points, 5.6 rebounds and 4.6 assists, serving as the primary facilitator and a key rebounder from the guard position. Tulane’s recent form has been uneven, with a 3-5 record since late December. Memphis has similarly struggled, going 2-5 over the same span before its win over UTSA. The Tigers’ victory showcased a stifling defense that will be tested by Daniel and Tulane’s Kendall Sneed, who added 12 points and 6 rebounds against Rice. The game is the first of a regular-season series between the teams, who will meet again in New Orleans on Feb. 19. With the conference schedule nearing its midpoint, both sides are in need of a win to improve their positioning in the AAC standings. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. CST Tuesday at FedExForum.
