EASTON, Pa. (Interstat) — A Patriot League women’s basketball rematch awaits Monday afternoon as the Lafayette Leopards host the Bucknell Bison at Kirby Sports Center. The meeting comes just 12 days after Lafayette (7-12, 3-5 Patriot) secured a 62-49 road victory over Bucknell (5-13, 2-6) on Jan. 14. That result is part of a recent challenging stretch for both teams in conference play. Bucknell enters with a measure of momentum after snapping a five-game skid with a 54-45 home win over Loyola Maryland on Saturday. The Bison were led by a versatile performance from junior Elena Houghton, who filled the stat sheet with eight rebounds, eight assists and three blocks. Houghton’s all-around play will be critical for a Bucknell squad seeking to avenge its earlier loss to Lafayette and improve its standing in the league. The Leopards, however, have struggled since their win in Lewisburg, dropping three consecutive games, including a 62-48 loss at Lehigh on Saturday. Lafayette will look to reignite its form behind forward Maddison Krug, who dominated the first matchup with Bucknell. In the Jan. 14 win, Krug recorded a formidable 18 rebounds and six blocks, anchoring the Leopards’ defense. While both teams have faced difficulties this season, the tight nature of the previous contest suggests another competitive battle. Bucknell will aim to leverage its recent defensive success after holding Loyola Maryland to 45 points, while Lafayette relies on its interior presence and home-court advantage to sweep the season series. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. tipoff on Jan. 26. Following this contest, Lafayette will host American on Saturday, while Bucknell travels to face Boston University.
