Preview: Texas-San Antonio at Memphis Women’s Basketball MEMPHIS, Tenn. (Interstat) — Two American Athletic Conference teams seeking momentum will meet Friday when the Memphis Tigers host the Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners at FedExForum. The Roadrunners (9-8, 4-2 AAC) enter with a better overall and conference record than the Tigers (7-12, 1-5), but are looking to rebound from a 65-58 home loss to East Carolina on Tuesday. UTSA had won three of its previous four games prior to that defeat. Memphis has lost four of its last five, most recently falling 66-59 at Wichita State on Tuesday. The Tigers’ lone conference win came against Florida Atlantic on Jan. 7. A key matchup will feature two of the league’s top guards. UTSA is led by Ereauna Hardaway, who is coming off a 20-point performance in a rout of Florida Atlantic last week and has dished out at least seven assists in four of her last seven games. For Memphis, Daejah Richmond has been a consistent offensive catalyst, scoring 23 and 24 points in her last two home games. She is averaging 17.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 5.0 assists in AAC play. UTSA’s recent success has been fueled by defense, holding three of its last six opponents under 50 points. Memphis has struggled to find consistent stops, allowing an average of 78.2 points in its five conference losses. According to National Statistical’s ELO system, Texas-San Antonio is projected with an 81.2% probability to win. The teams will meet again in San Antonio on March 1. Friday’s game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. CST tip-off.
