Preview: William & Mary Tribe at Northeastern Huskies BOSTON (Interstat) — Two Colonial Athletic Association women’s basketball teams seeking momentum will meet Friday night when the William & Mary Tribe visits the Northeastern Huskies at Matthews Arena. Both sides enter the Jan. 23 contest looking to build on .500 conference records after inconsistent starts to the season. William & Mary (8-8 overall) has dropped four straight games, including a 59-49 home loss to Hampton on Jan. 16. Northeastern (6-10) snapped a three-game skid with a narrow 62-60 road victory at Hofstra on Jan. 18. The matchup will feature two of the conference’s key performers. William & Mary will lean on guard Natalie Fox, who is coming off a 20-point performance against Hampton. Over her last five games, Fox is averaging 11.8 points per contest. Her scoring will be crucial for a Tribe offense that has been held under 50 points twice during its current losing streak. Northeastern counters with forward Justice Tramble, who provided a spark in the win over Hofstra with 13 points and three rebounds in 25 minutes. Tramble has shown scoring versatility, reaching double figures in three of her last six outings, including an 18-point effort at UNC Wilmington on Jan. 2. The Huskies’ victory over Hofstra, sealed by a late basket, provided a potential turning point after a series of close losses, including a double-overtime defeat to North Carolina A&T on Jan. 9. Northeastern’s defense, which allowed an average of 77.5 points in the two games prior, tightened to secure the win. William & Mary’s recent struggles have been marked by offensive challenges, failing to reach 50 points in two of their last three games. Beyond Fox, production from guards Alexa Mikeska and Monet Dance, who combined for 14 points and 8 assists against Hampton, will be needed to alleviate the scoring burden. Historically, the venue may offer Northeastern an edge. The Huskies have performed better at home this season, including a notable non-conference win over Boston College in December. Friday’s game is the only scheduled meeting between the programs this regular season. Following this contest, William & Mary travels to face Hofstra on Jan. 25, while Northeastern visits Monmouth the same day.
