PHILADELPHIA (Interstat) — A surging South Florida women’s basketball team will look to extend its winning streak when it visits Temple in an American Athletic Conference matchup Tuesday night at Liacouras Center. The Bulls (12-7, 5-1 AAC) have won five straight conference games, most recently a 75-53 rout of Wichita State on Saturday. Guard Katie Davidson, the team’s player to watch, led the way with 24 points in that victory and is averaging 18.3 points over her last three contests. She forms a potent backcourt with Edyn Battle, who recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 assists against the Shockers. Temple (7-10, 1-5) seeks to halt a three-game skid and regain momentum from its lone league win, a 70-50 decision at Wichita State on Jan. 6. The Owls are led by guard Kaylah Turner, a high-volume scorer who logged 39 minutes and 17 points in a loss at East Carolina last Saturday. Turner has shown explosive capability, including a 36-point performance at Princeton in nonconference play. The matchup pits South Florida’s efficient offense, which has scored 70 or more points in four of its last five wins, against a Temple defense that has allowed an average of 76 points during its current losing streak. The Bulls’ streak includes road wins at Memphis and UAB. Temple holds home-court advantage, where it is 5-4 this season, but faces a USF squad that has found its rhythm in AAC play after a tough nonconference slate that included losses to powerhouses Connecticut and South Carolina. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. EST. The teams will meet again in the regular-season finale on March 3 in Tampa, Florida.
