Preview: Toledo Looks to Continue Momentum at Eastern Michigan YPSILANTI, Mich. (Interstat) — The Toledo women’s basketball team aims to climb above .500 in Mid-American Conference play when it visits Eastern Michigan on Tuesday night. The Rockets (8-7, 2-2 MAC) are coming off a dominant 70-49 home victory over Northern Illinois last Wednesday. Toledo’s offense has shown flashes of potency, averaging 68.3 points per game, but consistency has been an issue during nonconference play. Eastern Michigan (7-9, 1-4) seeks to end a four-game skid, most recently a 77-64 loss at Central Michigan on Saturday. The Eagles’ defense has struggled during the losing streak, allowing an average of 80 points per game. A key matchup will feature Toledo guard Patricia Anumgba against Eastern Michigan’s Fernanda Ovalle. Anumgba is averaging 11.4 points and leads the Rockets. She is coming off a season-high 24-point performance against Northern Illinois. Ovalle, a guard for the Eagles, averages a team-leading 14.6 points and scored 26 in a win over Bowling Green last month. Toledo has won three of its last five, including convincing wins over Buffalo and Long Beach State. Eastern Michigan’s lone conference win was an 86-76 victory against Bowling Green on Dec. 30. The Rockets have shown a strong home-court advantage but are 2-4 in true road games this season. Eastern Michigan is 5-3 at the Convocation Center. This is the first of two scheduled meetings between the teams this season. They will meet again in Toledo on Feb. 14. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. EST at the Convocation Center on the campus of Eastern Michigan University.
