Preview: Rice Looks to Extend Win Streak Against Tulsa in AAC Clash TULSA, Okla. (Interstat) — A key American Athletic Conference women’s basketball matchup features two of the league’s hottest teams when the Rice Owls visit the Tulsa Golden Hurricane on Tuesday night at the Donald Reynolds Center. Rice (14-3, 4-0 AAC) enters on a nine-game winning streak, its last loss coming against UCF on Nov. 28. The Owls have dominated conference play, winning their four AAC contests by an average of 18.3 points. Their most recent victory was a 76-56 rout of UAB on Jan. 14, where Dominique Ennis scored 19 points and Shelby Hayes added 18. Tulsa (12-5, 3-1) has won three of its last four, including a 64-53 road win at Charlotte on Saturday. The Golden Hurricane’s lone conference blemish was a 79-48 loss at East Carolina on Jan. 13. The game pits two standout guards against each other. Rice’s Ennis has been a consistent force, averaging 13.8 points over her last four games, including a 17-point performance in a tight 70-68 win at South Florida. Tulsa will counter with Jade Clack, who is coming off a 22-point effort at Charlotte and has scored in double figures in four of her last five outings. Rice’s success has been built on defensive pressure, holding opponents to 56.2 points per game during their streak. Tulsa averages 70.2 points per game but was held to 48 in its loss to East Carolina, a potential concern against the Owls’ stifling defense. The Owls lead the all-time series 8-4, but Tulsa won the last meeting 65-61 on Feb. 24, 2025. The teams will meet again in Houston on Feb. 28 to close the regular season. Tuesday’s winner will secure an important early conference victory and momentum before the schedule intensifies. Rice visits Tulane on Jan. 24, while Tulsa travels to North Texas on Jan. 24. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. CST.
