Rider, Manhattan Seek Momentum in MAAC Clash NEW YORK (Interstat) ā Two teams looking to build on rare victories will meet when the Rider Broncs visit the Manhattan Lady Jaspers in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference womenās basketball game Monday at Draddy Gymnasium. Both sides enter with identical 4-13 overall records. Rider snapped a three-game skid with a 64-54 home win over Sacred Heart on Saturday. Manhattan, meanwhile, aims to rebound from a 76-54 loss at Fairfield that same day, which halted a three-game winning streak. The matchup features two of the conferenceās top individual performers. Rider is led by Emmy Roach, who is coming off a strong 18-point, six-rebound effort in the win over Sacred Heart. Over her last eight games, the guard/forward is averaging 9.1 points and 5.3 rebounds. Manhattan will counter with Kristina Juric, who has been a force during the Lady Jaspersā recent improved play. The forward averaged 15.5 points over a four-game stretch from Jan. 1-14, including a 22-point, four-block performance in a win over Mount Saint Maryās. She recorded a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds in a victory at Saint Peterās on New Yearās Day. For Rider, consistency has been elusive. Following their win over Sacred Heart, the Broncs have not won consecutive games since early December. Aliya McIver, who had 13 points and seven assists Saturday, provides backcourt stability alongside Roach. Manhattanās three-game win streak earlier this month, which included decisive road wins at Niagara and Canisius, showed the teamās potential. Juricās interior presence will be key against a Rider team that has struggled at times to score, averaging just 54.2 points per game this season. This contest opens a critical stretch for both programs as they seek to climb the MAAC standings ahead of the conference tournament. The teams will meet again in three weeks on Feb. 5 in Lawrenceville, New Jersey. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST.
