Quinnipiac Looks to Extend Win Streak Against Merrimack NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. (Interstat) — The surging Quinnipiac women’s basketball team will aim for its eighth consecutive victory when it visits Merrimack in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference matchup Monday at Volpe Athletic Center. The Bobcats (13-4, 7-0 MAAC) have been dominant in conference play, most recently defeating Marist 59-47 on Saturday. Their success has been fueled by a balanced attack and the consistent play of forward Anna Foley. Over her last seven games, Foley is averaging 10.0 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.1 assists, including a 13-point, 10-rebound double-double in a win over Sacred Heart on Jan. 10. Quinnipiac’s current streak includes six MAAC wins by an average margin of 22.2 points. The Merrimack Warriors (8-8, 5-2) look to rebound after a 58-51 road loss at Iona on Wednesday. They had previously won four straight conference games. Guard Paloma Garcia leads the Warriors’ backcourt, averaging 11.9 points over her last seven contests. She scored a season-high 21 points with seven assists in a win at Rider on Jan. 1. Merrimack has shown resilience at home, including a 59-57 overtime victory against Marist on Jan. 8. Monday’s game is the first of a regular-season home-and-home series between the teams, who will meet again in Hamden, Connecticut, on Jan. 31. Quinnipiac’s conference start is its best since joining the MAAC. Merrimack sits in the middle of the league standings, seeking a signature win to bolster its position. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST.
