FAIRFIELD, Conn. (Interstat) ā A tight Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference rematch is set for Monday when the Sacred Heart Pioneers host the Marist Red Foxes in womenās basketball. The Pioneers (7-10) will look to avenge a 57-55 loss at Marist on Dec. 29 when they welcome the Red Foxes (6-12) to the William Pitt Center. Both teams are seeking consistency after recent losses; Marist fell 59-47 at Quinnipiac on Saturday, while Sacred Heart dropped a 64-54 decision at Rider the same day. The first meeting was decided by two points, and a key individual duel figures to be pivotal again. Maristās Justine Henry scored 11 points with five rebounds in the December win. The forward is averaging 9.7 points and 6.0 rebounds over her last six games, including a 10-point, 10-rebound performance in a Jan. 3 victory at Manhattan. Sacred Heartās Emma Kirby was dominant in the earlier loss, posting 16 points and 14 rebounds. The standout forward is coming off a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds in the loss to Rider. Her interior presence will be central to the Pioneersā game plan. Marist has struggled offensively, failing to reach 50 points in three of its last four games. Sacred Heartās defense, which allows an average of 61.2 points per game, will aim to extend that trend. The Pioneers have shown more firepower at home, scoring 70 or more points in two of their last three home contests. The game is part of a busy MAAC schedule for both. Marist visits Siena on Thursday, while Sacred Heart travels to Canisius. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST Monday.
