Preview: Duke Blue Devils at Stanford Cardinal PALO ALTO, Calif. (Interstat) — A surging Duke women’s basketball team will face its toughest test in weeks when it visits Stanford at Maples Pavilion on Sunday in a marquee nonconference matchup organized by the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Blue Devils (10-6) enter on a season-best six-game winning streak, most recently edging California 78-74 on the road Thursday. Duke has averaged 84.2 points per game during the streak, a significant offensive uptick. Stanford (14-3), however, presents a formidable hurdle. The Cardinal boasts a 9-1 record at home this season and is coming off a gritty 55-43 defensive victory over Wake Forest. Their three losses have come against ranked opponents, including a 74-46 setback at then-North Carolina State on Jan. 1. A key matchup will feature Duke’s emerging forward Arianna Roberson against Stanford’s standout Nunu Agara. Roberson is averaging 11.8 points and 4.3 rebounds over the last six games, including a 20-point performance at California. Agara, a dynamic force for the Cardinal, is coming off a career-high 27 points in 39 minutes against Wake Forest and has averaged 17.3 points over her last three contests. Duke’s recent success has been fueled by balanced scoring. In the win over California, Ashlon Jackson added 17 points and seven assists, while Delaney Thomas contributed 20 points off the bench. Stanford counters with a defense that held its last opponent to 43 points and features rim protector Alexandra Eschmeyer, who blocked six shots Thursday. This game serves as a final major nonconference test for both programs before they dive deeper into their ACC schedules. Duke seeks a resume-building road win against a top-10 opponent, while Stanford aims to protect its home court and solidify its top-tier ranking. Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m. EST Sunday at Maples Pavilion.
