Preview: Utah State Aggies at UNLV Runninâ Rebels LAS VEGAS (Interstat) â The UNLV womenâs basketball team looks to extend its winning streak and solidify its position in the Mountain West Conference when it hosts Utah State on Wednesday night at the Thomas & Mack Center. The Runninâ Rebels (9-5) enter conference play on a four-game win streak, most recently a 64-58 road victory at Air Force on Saturday. Forward Shelbee Brown has been a consistent force, averaging a double-double of 13.0 points and 10.8 rebounds over her last five games. She posted 16 points and 10 rebounds in the win over the Falcons. Utah State (6-7) seeks to rebound from a 40-58 loss at Nevada this past Saturday. The Aggiesâ offense has struggled at times, but guard Marina Asensio provides a spark. She scored a team-high 20 points in the loss to the Wolf Pack and is averaging 11.2 points and 5.0 assists over her last five contests. UNLV holds a decisive edge in recent performance, having won eight of its last ten games. The Rebelsâ offense has been potent during their streak, averaging 74.8 points per game in their four consecutive wins. Utah State has alternated wins and losses over its past five games and will need to find scoring beyond Asensio to keep pace. The matchup pits UNLVâs momentum and home-court advantage against a Utah State team needing a statement road victory to climb to .500. The Rebelsâ interior presence, led by Brown and Meadow Roland, who nearly had a triple-double against Air Force with 12 points, nine rebounds and four blocks, will challenge the Aggies. Wednesdayâs game tips off a critical conference stretch for both teams. UNLV visits Wyoming on Saturday, while Utah State hosts San Diego State. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. PST.
