WORCESTER, Mass. (Interstat) — A surging Holy Cross looks to continue its climb in the Patriot League standings when it hosts a Lehigh team riding its own wave of momentum on Wednesday night at the Hart Recreation Center. The Crusaders (8-5) enter with a four-game winning streak, most recently a 66-55 road victory at Navy on Saturday. Guard Kendall Eddy led the way with 21 points, continuing her strong play. Over her last four games, Eddy is averaging 10 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.5 assists. She forms a potent backcourt with Meg Cahalan, who scored 22 points against Navy. Holy Cross has found success with defense during its streak, holding opponents to an average of 52.8 points over the last four contests. They will face a Lehigh squad (6-7) that has won two straight, including a dominant 74-43 home win over Bucknell on Saturday. The Mountain Hawks were powered by forward Leia Edwards, who posted a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Edwards has been a consistent force, averaging 16 points and 8 rebounds over the last two games. The matchup pits two of the league’s top recent performers against each other in Eddy and Edwards. Lehigh will need another strong outing from its star to counter a balanced Holy Cross attack that has seen different players step up nightly. Wednesday’s contest is the first of two regular-season meetings between the teams, with the rematch scheduled for Feb. 7 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Following this game, Holy Cross hosts American on Saturday, while Lehigh returns home to face Colgate.
