LEWISBURG, Pa. (Interstat) — The Navy and Bucknell women’s basketball teams will look to steady their Patriot League campaigns when they meet Wednesday night at Sojka Pavilion. Navy (7-6) enters having split its last four games, most recently falling 66-55 to Holy Cross on Saturday. Bucknell (4-9) seeks to end a three-game skid after a 74-43 loss at Lehigh the same day. The Midshipmen hold the better overall record, but both teams are searching for their first conference win of the new year in this early league matchup. Navy’s offense runs through guard Zanai Barnett-Gay, who is averaging 15.8 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game. She posted 15 points and eight rebounds in the loss to Holy Cross and had an 18-point, 5-rebound, 5-assist performance in a win at Boston University on Dec. 31. The Bison will counter with forward Tuana Coskun, their leading offensive threat. Coskun is coming off a 23-point effort in a narrow 58-55 loss to Holy Cross on Dec. 31 and exploded for 33 points in a non-conference rout of Gwynedd Mercy on Dec. 20. Her scoring punch will be vital for a Bucknell team that has struggled offensively during its losing streak, averaging just 50.3 points in those three defeats. Navy has shown a pattern of following a loss with a win in recent weeks and will aim to continue that trend on the road. Bucknell, however, has found success at home this season, boasting a 4-2 record in Lewisburg compared to 0-7 on the road. Historically, the series has been tightly contested, adding another layer to this midweek clash. The teams will meet again in Annapolis on Feb. 11. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. EST.
