WASHINGTON (Interstat) — Two Patriot League women’s basketball teams seeking momentum will meet Wednesday when the American Eagles host the Colgate Raiders. The conference matchup at Bender Arena features teams with a combined 8-18 overall record. American (3-10) enters following a 53-45 home victory over Boston University on Saturday. Colgate (5-8) looks to rebound from a 49-81 loss to Army on the same day. A key matchup will be in the backcourt, where each team’s top performer is coming off a double-double. American’s Madisyn Moore-Nicholson recorded 11 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists in the win over BU, her second 20-point game in the last four contests. For Colgate, guard Ella Meabon is averaging 18.7 points over her last three games, including a 27-point, 9-rebound effort in a win over Lafayette on Dec. 31. The Eagles’ victory over BU snapped a three-game skid and showcased a defensive effort that held the Terriers to 27.9% shooting. Molly Driscoll (15 points) and Ellie Pingree (9 points, 8 rebounds, 3 blocks) provided crucial support. Colgate’s loss to Army was its most lopsided of the season, with the Raiders shooting just 30.2% from the field. Both teams have struggled offensively this season, with each averaging fewer than 60 points per game. The outcome will likely hinge on which squad can establish consistency and capitalize on limited scoring opportunities. This game begins a critical stretch of Patriot League play for both programs.
