Ivy League Women’s Basketball Preview: Brown Bears at Yale Bulldogs NEW HAVEN, Conn. (Interstat) — A surging Brown team visits a Yale squad seeking momentum as Ivy League women’s basketball play opens Monday at Payne Whitney Gymnasium. The Bears (8-4) enter conference action having won five of their last six games, including a dominant 76-24 victory over Wheaton in their most recent outing on Dec. 29. The Bulldogs (4-9) look to rebound from a tough non-conference slate, having dropped their last two games in overtime, including an 85-83 double-overtime loss at High Point on Dec. 20. Brown’s success has been fueled by balanced contributions. In the win over Wheaton, Grace Arnolie scored 13 points and Ada Anamekwe added 10 points and six rebounds. A key player to watch is Alyssa Moreland, who nearly posted a double-double in just 11 minutes against Wheaton with 10 points and nine rebounds. Moreland also scored 14 points in a road win at Merrimack on Dec. 9. Yale has shown resilience despite its record, with several close losses. In the double-overtime defeat at High Point, Ciniya Moore poured in 33 points and Kiley Capstraw recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Mary Meng controlled the glass with 15 rebounds in that contest. The Bulldogs have found some success at home this season, including a 61-48 victory over Bryant on Dec. 3. They will need to leverage that home-court advantage against a Brown team that is 4-4 on the road. This matchup marks the first of two regular-season meetings between the rivals. They will meet again in Providence on Feb. 7. Monday’s contest offers Brown a chance to establish an early lead in the Ivy standings, while Yale aims to start its conference campaign with an upset and shift its season’s trajectory. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST.
