NORFOLK, Va. (Interstat) — A surging Georgia Southern women’s basketball team will put its five-game winning streak on the line Thursday when it visits Old Dominion at the Constant Convocation Center. The Eagles (9-3) have not lost since Nov. 30, averaging 82.6 points per game during their streak. They are coming off a 67-54 win over Appalachian State on Dec. 20, led by 20 points from guard Kishyah Anderson. Anderson has been a consistent force, scoring in double figures in four of the last five games, including a 17-point, five-rebound performance in a 136-74 rout of Coastal Georgia on Dec. 12. The Lady Monarchs (8-5) aim to build momentum after an 89-68 road victory at Indiana State on Dec. 22. Guard En’Dya Buford led the way with 19 points, five rebounds and four assists in that contest. Buford has been a bright spot, averaging 14 points over her last three games, though Old Dominion has split its last four. This nonconference matchup pits Georgia Southern’s high-scoring offense against an Old Dominion team seeking consistency. The Eagles’ streak includes several dominant wins, but their three losses came against power-conference opponents LSU and Florida State, along with Missouri State. Old Dominion’s record features a similar pattern, with defeats to Mississippi, Oregon and Texas Tech alongside solid victories. The game will be a final tune-up before both teams dive deeper into their conference schedules next week. They are scheduled to meet again in a Sun Belt Conference rematch on Jan. 10 in Statesboro, Georgia. Tip-off is set for Thursday afternoon.
