Undefeated Georgia Women Set for SEC Showdown at Ole Miss UNIVERSITY, Miss. (Interstat) — The Georgia Bulldogs, one of only two remaining undefeated teams in NCAA Division I women’s basketball, face their toughest test of the season Thursday when they visit the Mississippi Rebels to open Southeastern Conference play. The matchup at The Pavilion at Ole Miss pits Georgia’s perfect 14-0 record against a Mississippi squad at 13-2, with both losses coming by a single point on the road against ranked opponents (Kansas State, Michigan State). The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. EST tipoff on Jan. 1, 2026. Georgia has dominated non-conference play, winning by an average margin of 27.6 points. Their most recent outing was a 97-52 rout of Charleston Southern on Monday, led by forward Zhen Craft’s 16 points and 13 rebounds in just 19 minutes. Craft, a key player to watch, is averaging a near double-double over her last five games despite limited minutes. Mississippi, however, presents a significant step up in competition. The Rebels boast a formidable defense and the interior presence of forward Latasha Lattimore, who is coming off a 14-point, 12-rebound, four-block performance in a win over Alcorn State. Lattimore has recorded three double-doubles in her last six games. The Rebels’ two losses were a 61-60 heartbreaker at then-Kansas State and a 66-49 defeat at then-Michigan State. Their signature win is a 69-62 victory over then-Notre Dame on Dec. 4. Georgia’s schedule has been less challenging, with its most notable win an 80-60 road victory at Florida State. The Bulldogs’ depth has been overwhelming, with ten players averaging over 10 minutes per game. “This is why you play in the SEC,” Georgia coach Joni Taylor said. “Every afternoon is a battle, especially on the road. Ole Miss is elite defensively and well-coached. We’ll need our best focus and execution.” Mississippi coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin emphasized the opportunity. “Georgia is the benchmark right now. They’re talented, deep and playing with great confidence. Protecting our home court to start conference play is crucial.” The game begins a pivotal stretch for both teams. Georgia hosts Texas A&M on Sunday, while Mississippi travels to Texas. The teams will meet again in Athens on Jan. 18.
