LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Interstat) — A matchup of ASUN Conference women’s basketball teams on opposite trajectories will tip off the new year when the Queens Royals visit the Bellarmine Knights on Thursday at Knights Hall. Queens (6-5) enters 2026 with momentum, having won three of its last four games, including a dominant 60-35 victory over South Carolina Upstate in its most recent outing on Dec. 20. The Royals have found success with a balanced attack, as evidenced in that win where Ana Barreto scored 14 points and Jermany Mapp added 13. The consistent engine for Queens, however, is guard Dayuna Colvin. Over the last four games, she has averaged 12 points and 4.8 assists, including a 15-point effort in a road win at Western Carolina and an 11-point, 8-assist performance in a rout of CarolinaU. Bellarmine (2-11) seeks a fresh start after a difficult non-conference slate. The Knights have dropped eight straight games, a streak featuring lopsided road losses to power conference opponents like Notre Dame, Arizona, Louisville and Ohio State. Their last victory came in overtime at Wright State on Nov. 19. Despite the team’s struggles, guard Rose Jamison has provided a bright spot. She averaged 18.5 points in the Knights’ two most recent games, scoring 20 at Arizona and 17 at Notre Dame. Her scoring punch will be vital for a Bellarmine offense that has been held under 60 points in nine of its 11 losses. This game opens ASUN play for both squads. Queens will look to capitalize on its stronger pre-conference record, while Bellarmine aims to leverage the home floor and reset its season in league action. The Knights will need to contain Colvin and Queens’ rhythm to have a chance, while the Royals must navigate a potentially desperate home team. The rematch is scheduled for Jan. 29 in Charlotte, North Carolina.
