Austin Ladyjacks look to rebound from a road loss when they visit the Texas A&M-Commerce Lions in a nonconference women’s basketball matchup Monday at Texas A&M-Commerce Field House. The Ladyjacks (7-4) are coming off a 73-82 defeat at Arkansas on Dec. 20. Guard Kaylinn Kemp led the team with 16 points and five assists in that contest, continuing a strong stretch where she has averaged 13.8 points and 5.8 assists over her last four games. Stephen F. Austin’s offense has been potent, scoring 84 points in a win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and 85 in a narrow loss to Texas-Rio Grande Valley earlier in December. Texas A&M-Commerce (4-5) last played on Dec. 15, earning a 76-60 home victory over Texas Southern. Forward Tiani Ellison dominated that game with 21 points and eight rebounds. Ellison has been a key performer for the Lions, though her production has fluctuated, including a 5-point outing in a road loss to McNeese State on Dec. 12. The Lions will aim to defend their home court against a Ladyjacks team with a stronger overall record. Stephen F. Austin has shown resilience in close games, with a 77-76 win over Abilene Christian and a 82-78 victory against Houston this season. This game serves as a final nonconference tune-up for both programs before each embarks on its conference schedule. Stephen F. Austin opens Southland Conference play at Northwestern State on Dec. 31. Texas A&M-Commerce begins its slate in the same conference at home against Lamar on the same date. Tipoff is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 29, 2025.
