HACKENSACK, N.J. (Interstat) — The Penn women’s basketball team looks to continue its strong non-conference play when it hosts Maryland-Eastern Shore at Rothman Center on Monday, Dec. 29, 2025. The Quakers (8-3) enter on a three-game winning streak, most recently defeating Washington State 67-62 on Dec. 19. Forward Katie Collins has been instrumental, averaging 13.8 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. She posted 15 points and eight rebounds against the Cougars and scored 20 in a win over La Salle on Dec. 7. Penn’s defense has been a hallmark, holding opponents to 52.5 points per game during its current streak. The Quakers will look to contain a Hawks squad coming off a 90-75 victory over Bloomfield College on Dec. 20. Maryland-Eastern Shore (7-8) has shown resilience, including a road win at Wichita State earlier this month, but has struggled against high-major competition. The Hawks are led by forward Ashanti Lynch, who is averaging a double-double over her last five games. She dominated against Bloomfield with 13 points and 14 rebounds in 28 minutes. The Hawks’ offense runs through guard Kalise Hill, who dished out seven assists in the win over Bloomfield, and features scoring punch from Kaliya Perry, who had 23 points in that game. This matchup marks the final non-conference tune-up for both teams before league play begins in January. Penn opens Ivy League action against Princeton on Jan. 3, while Maryland-Eastern Shore starts MEAC play the same day against Morgan State. Monday’s contest will test Penn’s stout defense against a Hawks team capable of offensive bursts. Containing Lynch inside will be a key focus for the Quakers’ frontcourt, led by Collins and Tina Njike, who had nine rebounds and four assists against Washington State. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST at Rothman Center.
