HACKENSACK, N.J. (Interstat) â A surging Fairleigh Dickinson womenâs basketball team looks to extend its winning streak when it hosts Binghamton in a nonconference matchup Monday at Rothman Center. The Knights (8-3) have won five straight games, most recently routing Division III Ursinus 85-19 on Dec. 20. They have held opponents to 34 points or fewer in three of those victories. Kailee McDonald has been a driving force, averaging 19.0 points per game during the streak, including a 22-point performance in 22 minutes against Ursinus. The Bearcats (7-4) enter on a strong note of their own, having won four of their last five. They are coming off an 82-54 home win over Colgate on Dec. 20, where forward Kendall Bennett posted a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Bennett has been a consistent interior presence, averaging 11.8 points and 5.6 rebounds over her last five contests. This game presents a contrast in schedules. Fairleigh Dickinsonâs streak has come largely against mid-major and lower-division opponents, with its three losses coming against power-conference programs Purdue, Notre Dame and Rutgers. Binghamtonâs record includes a road win at San Diego and a double-overtime victory at Akron, but also a blowout loss at Michigan. McDonaldâs scoring efficiency will be key for the Knights. In the teamâs current streak, she is shooting 50% from the field. Binghamton will counter with Bennett and a balanced attack that saw three players score in double figures against Colgate, including Meghan Casey (13 points) and Yanniah Boyd (11 points). The game is the final nonconference tune-up for both teams before league play begins in January. Fairleigh Dickinson opens Northeast Conference play at Chicago State on Jan. 8. Binghamton begins America East Conference play at home against Vermont on Jan. 8. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. EST Monday at the Rothman Center.
