Preview: Murray State Racers at Evansville Purple Aces EVANSVILLE, Ind. (Interstat) — A surging Murray State women’s basketball team will look to extend its winning streak when it visits struggling Evansville in a nonconference matchup Monday night at Ford Center. The Racers (10-2) enter on a five-game win streak, most recently routing Lindsey Wilson 101-44 on Dec. 20. They have scored at least 74 points in each victory during the run. The Purple Aces (2-10) have lost five straight, including a 75-66 defeat at Dayton on Dec. 21. The game features a contrast in momentum and a marquee backcourt matchup. Murray State is led by guard Haven Ford, who is averaging 17.8 points, 5.3 rebounds and 5.3 assists over her last four games. She scored 23 points in just 25 minutes in the Racers’ last outing. Evansville will counter with its own standout guard, Camryn Runner, who has been a consistent performer during the losing skid. Runner is averaging 16.5 points, 5.5 assists and 4.3 rebounds over her last six contests. She posted 22 points, six rebounds and six assists in the loss to Dayton. Murray State’s success has been built on efficient offense, surpassing 85 points in three of its last five games. Keslyn Secrist (16 points) and Halli Poock (15 points) provided strong support alongside Ford in the blowout of Lindsey Wilson. Evansville has struggled to find consistent scoring beyond Runner. The Purple Aces have been held under 70 points in eight of their 10 losses this season, including a 91-49 defeat at Purdue on Dec. 3. This is the final nonconference tune-up for both programs before league play begins. Murray State opens Missouri Valley Conference action at home against Illinois State on Jan. 2. Evansville begins its Valley slate at home against Valparaiso on Jan. 3. Monday’s tipoff is set for 7 p.m. EST at Ford Center.
