Undefeated Vanderbilt Set to Host Stonehill in Nonconference Finale NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Interstat) â The Vanderbilt womenâs basketball team, one of the nationâs remaining undefeated squads, concludes its nonconference schedule Sunday when it hosts the Stonehill Skyhawks at Memorial Gymnasium. The Commodores (12-0) have dominated their early slate, winning by an average margin of 33.8 points. Their most recent victory was a 96-46 rout of Texas Southern on Dec. 20, where Justine Pissott scored 25 points in just 20 minutes. Pissott, a key player for Vanderbilt, is averaging 16.3 points over her last three games. Vanderbiltâs defense has been stifling, holding opponents to 50.8 points per game. They have not allowed more than 71 points in a game this season. Stonehill (4-6) enters on a two-game swing through Tennessee, having fallen 71-65 at Stetson on Saturday. The Skyhawks are led by guard Emma ArcĂ , who scored 15 points in that loss. ArcĂ has been a consistent contributor, averaging 6.5 points and 3.3 assists per game this season. In their last outing, Brooke Paquette led Stonehill with 17 points and Julia Webster added 13 points and four blocks against Stetson. This matchup presents a stark contrast in trajectories. Vanderbilt, boasting a perfect record and a high-powered offense averaging 84.2 points, is heavily favored against a Stonehill team seeking to build momentum before opening Northeast Conference play next week. For Vanderbilt, this game serves as a final tune-up before a daunting Southeastern Conference schedule begins Jan. 1 at Arkansas. Stonehill aims to pull off a monumental upset before returning north to face New Haven on Jan. 2. Tipoff is set for Sunday afternoon at Memorial Gym.
