Preview: Oregon State Beavers at San Francisco Dons SAN FRANCISCO (Interstat) — Two teams riding winning streaks will meet Sunday when the Oregon State Beavers visit the San Francisco Dons in a nonconference women’s basketball matchup at War Memorial Gymnasium. Oregon State (8-5) enters having won three straight, including a 64-57 victory over Liberty last Saturday and a narrow 53-51 win over Montana State on Dec. 19. The Beavers’ recent success has been fueled by guard Kennedie Shuler, who erupted for 21 points in 32 minutes against Liberty. Over her last three games, Shuler is averaging 12.0 points and 4.3 assists. San Francisco (7-4) snapped a two-game skid with a 61-55 home win over Sacramento State on Dec. 17. The Dons are 5-1 at home this season, with their only loss at War Memorial coming against Colorado State on Dec. 13. Guard Aina Cargol paces the San Francisco offense, coming off a 14-point, 7-assist performance against Sacramento State. The Beavers have shown resilience in close games, with their last three contests decided by seven points or fewer, including an overtime loss to Arizona State on Dec. 14. Jenna Villa, who scored 13 points against Liberty, provides a secondary scoring option alongside Shuler. For the Dons, balance has been key. In the win over Sacramento State, Noelia Mourino Freiria added 10 points and Mara Neira contributed 9 points off the bench. San Francisco will look to control the tempo against an Oregon State squad that has struggled at times on the road, including a 96-73 loss at Oregon earlier this month. This contest serves as a final nonconference tune-up for both programs before each embarks on its respective league schedule in early January. The teams are scheduled to meet again in a return game at Oregon State on Jan. 31. Sunday’s tipoff is set for 2 p.m. PST at War Memorial Gymnasium.
