STOCKTON, Calif. (Interstat) ā Two teams seeking momentum before conference play begins will meet Sunday when the Pacific Tigers host the Seattle Redhawks in a nonconference womenās basketball game at the A.C. Spanos Center. Both teams enter the December 28 contest looking to halt recent slides. Seattle (4-6) has lost two straight, including a 62-85 defeat at Portland State on Dec. 17. Pacific (5-6) is coming off a 50-90 home loss to Washington on Dec. 21. The matchup features a contrast in recent performance. The Tigersā offense has shown high bursts, scoring 116 points in a win over Simpson on Dec. 19, but was stifled by Washingtonās defense. Seattleās results have been volatile, with a 102-point outing against Evergreen State followed by a 51-point performance in a loss to Cal State Bakersfield. A key player to watch for Seattle is forward Sydnie Rodriguez. She leads the Redhawksā attack, coming off a 16-point effort in 35 minutes against Portland State. Her consistency will be crucial for a team that has struggled to score against stronger opponents. Pacific will counter with guard Daria Nestorov, who facilitates the Tigersā offense. Nestorov is averaging 7.5 assists over her last four games, including a 14-point, 7-assist performance in a narrow 68-70 loss at San Diego State on Dec. 7. Her ability to create shots for herself and others will be central to Pacificās game plan. For Seattle, additional production will be needed from Ella Brubaker, who scored 20 points in the last outing, and Lucija Milkovic, who added 14 points and four blocks against Portland State. Pacificās Winner Bartholomew, who posted 11 points against Washington, will look to provide supplemental scoring alongside Nestorov. The game represents a final nonconference tune-up before both teams dive into their respective league schedules in early January. Seattle will aim to improve its road record, while Pacific looks to defend its home court and climb above .500. Tip-off is set for Sunday afternoon at the Spanos Center.
