Preview: Stetson Hatters at Miami (Fla.) Hurricanes CORAL GABLES, Fla. (Interstat) — The surging Stetson women’s basketball team will face a significant non-conference test Sunday when the Hatters visit the Miami Hurricanes at Watsco Center. Stetson (7-3) enters on a two-game win streak, most recently defeating Stonehill 71-65 on Dec. 20. The Hatters’ offense runs through dynamic guard Cameron Thomas, who is coming off a 32-point performance in that victory. Thomas has been a high-volume scorer, including a 35-point outing in a win at UCF earlier this month. Miami (8-4) looks to build momentum heading into Atlantic Coast Conference play after an 85-55 rout of Kennesaw State on Dec. 21. The Hurricanes are powered inside by center Ra Shaya Kyle, who recorded 28 points and 10 rebounds in that win. Kyle has been a consistent double-double threat, posting three in her last six games. The matchup presents a contrast in trajectories. Stetson has won five of its last six, with the only loss in that span a six-point defeat to William & Mary. Miami has alternated results recently, following a 38-point loss to North Carolina State with the 30-point win over Kennesaw State. For the Hatters, this game is a final opportunity to secure a notable power-conference victory before opening ASUN Conference play on Jan. 1. Mary McMillan and Aleah Sorrentino provide supplemental scoring alongside Thomas. The Hurricanes, who begin ACC action at Virginia Tech on New Year’s Day, will rely on Kyle’s interior presence and the perimeter shooting of guard Vittoria Blasigh, who added 18 points in the last outing. Sunday’s contest is the final non-conference game for both teams. Stetson holds a 2-2 record on the road this season, while Miami is 6-1 at home. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. EST. The game will not be televised nationally but will be streamed on ACC Network Extra.
