Preview: Wofford Terriers at Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets ATLANTA (Interstat) — Two teams seeking momentum before conference play begins will meet Sunday when the Wofford Terriers visit the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in a nonconference women’s basketball game at Hank McCamish Pavilion. Both programs enter the contest looking to halt recent slides. Wofford (5-7) snapped a two-game skid with a dominant 92-42 win over King on Dec. 19. Georgia Tech (4-9), however, carries a five-game losing streak into Sunday’s matchup, with its last victory a 72-57 decision over Norfolk State on Dec. 8. The game features a key matchup in the frontcourt between two standout performers. Wofford will rely on forward Queen Ikhiuwu, who is coming off a highly efficient 21-point, seven-rebound effort in just 18 minutes against King. Over her last six games, Ikhiuwu is averaging 15.8 points and 5.5 rebounds, providing a consistent interior presence for the Terriers. Georgia Tech’s offense runs through guard Talayah Walker. She scored 20 points in a loss to North Carolina State on Dec. 18 and has averaged 14.2 points over her last five outings. Her ability to create shots will be critical for a Yellow Jackets squad that has struggled to score during its losing streak, failing to reach 60 points in four of those five defeats. For Wofford, secondary scoring behind Ikhiuwu will be vital. Guard Maddie Heiss added 18 points in the win over King, while Madi Hawk contributed 12 points and five rebounds. Georgia Tech will look for additional production from Catherine Alben, who scored 18 points against NC State, and playmaker Brianna Turnage. This marks the final nonconference tune-up for both teams. Wofford opens Southern Conference play at Chattanooga on Jan. 8. Georgia Tech begins a demanding Atlantic Coast Conference schedule at home against Notre Dame on Jan. 1. Sunday’s tipoff is set for 2 p.m. EST at Hank McCamish Pavilion.
