Preview: Clemson Lady Tigers at Chicago State Cougars CHICAGO (Interstat) — A surging Clemson women’s basketball team visits a struggling Chicago State squad in non-conference play Sunday at Jones Convocation Center. The Clemson Lady Tigers (9-4) enter on a four-game winning streak, including an 84-62 rout of North Florida on Dec. 21. They have won those four contests by an average margin of 26.5 points. Guard Mia Moore has been a catalyst, averaging 13 points and 4.5 assists during the streak. She posted 18 points and six assists in the win over North Florida. The Chicago State Cougars (1-11) seek to halt an eight-game skid. Their lone victory came in the season opener against Winthrop on Nov. 5. Since then, they have faced a difficult road schedule, with their last seven games all away from home. Guard Kayla Mount has provided a recent bright spot, scoring 14 points off the bench in a 69-55 loss at Utah Tech on Dec. 17. Clemson’s offense, averaging 70.2 points per game, will test a Chicago State defense that has allowed 80.2 points per contest during its losing streak. The Lady Tigers have shown balance, with Demeara Hinds adding 13 points and eight rebounds in the last outing. For Chicago State, the game marks a long-awaited return home after more than a month away. The Cougars will look to Mount and forward Keona McGee, who had eight points and five rebounds against Utah Tech, to generate offense. This is the final non-conference tune-up for both programs before league play begins. Clemson opens its Atlantic Coast Conference schedule at Virginia on Jan. 1. Chicago State begins its inaugural season in the Northeast Conference at Wagner on Jan. 2. Tipoff is set for Sunday afternoon.
