Preview: Chattanooga Lady Mocs at Tennessee State Tigers NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Interstat) — The Chattanooga Lady Mocs will look to continue their recent surge and complete a season sweep when they visit the Tennessee State Tigers in a nonconference women’s basketball game Monday at Howard Gentry Complex. Chattanooga (7-5) enters on a four-game winning streak, including a dramatic 59-58 victory over Western Kentucky last Friday. The Lady Mocs also handily defeated Tennessee State (2-9) 81-51 on the road just 11 days ago, on Dec. 11. The Lady Mocs are powered by guard Gianna Corbitt, who has been on a scoring tear. Over her last five games, Corbitt is averaging 20.8 points, including a 30-point outburst against Bellarmine and 23 points in the recent win over Western Kentucky. In the first meeting against Tennessee State this month, she scored 21 points in just 22 minutes. Tennessee State seeks to build on its first victory since November, a 76-72 win over Southeast Missouri State on Saturday. The Tigers had dropped eight straight prior to that result, a skid that began with the lopsided loss to Chattanooga. Guard Erin Martin leads the Tigers and is coming off a season-high 25-point performance in a loss to Tennessee-Martin on Dec. 18. She was held to nine points in the earlier matchup with Chattanooga. For Chattanooga, the contest is a final tune-up before closing its nonconference schedule next week and beginning Southern Conference play in January. Tennessee State will look to carry any momentum from its recent win into its Ohio Valley Conference slate, which begins in early January. Monday’s game tips off at 6 p.m. Central Time.
