TOLEDO, Ohio (Interstat) — The Toledo women’s basketball team aims to climb back to .500 when it visits struggling Long Beach State in a nonconference matchup Monday afternoon at Walter Pyramid. The Rockets (4-5) are coming off a 75-63 home win over Wayne State on Dec. 17, where Kendall Carruthers scored 20 points and Faith Fedd-Robinson added 16 points and three assists. Toledo’s season has been inconsistent, with the win preceding a 60-85 loss at then-Ohio State. Fedd-Robinson, a key guard, has been a steady contributor, averaging 11.4 points over her last five games. She will be central to Toledo’s efforts against a Long Beach State defense that has allowed an average of 77.2 points per game during its winless start. The 49ers (0-10) are seeking their first victory under first-year coach after a difficult opening stretch. They are returning home following a 44-106 loss at UCLA on Saturday. Long Beach State has lost each game this season by double digits, with its closest result a 54-57 defeat to Sacramento State on Nov. 15. Guard Kennan Ka has been a primary option for the 49ers, averaging 6.0 points and 2.6 assists over her last five contests. The team will need a significant defensive improvement; opponents are shooting 46.8% from the field against them this season. Historically, this is a rare meeting between the programs. For Toledo, it represents a final tune-up before Mid-American Conference play begins next week. For Long Beach State, it is one of two remaining nonconference chances to build momentum before Big West Conference action starts Jan. 3. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. PST tipoff on Monday, Dec. 22, 2025.
