Aggies Host Struggling Lady Panthers in Non-Conference Finale COLLEGE STATION, Texas (Interstat) — The Texas A&M women’s basketball team looks to rebound from its most lopsided loss of the season when it hosts Prairie View A&M at Reed Arena on Sunday. The Aggies (6-2) enter the contest following a 63-45 home defeat to West Virginia on Dec. 14, a game in which they shot just 27.9% from the field. Prior to that, Texas A&M had won five of its first seven, including a 72-63 victory over Georgia Tech. Forward Fatmata Janneh has been a consistent contributor for the Aggies, averaging 9.9 points per game. She scored 12 points against West Virginia. They face a Prairie View team (2-8) that has lost five straight, all on the road, by an average margin of 33.2 points. The Lady Panthers’ most recent outing was a 72-59 loss at Lamar on Wednesday. Prairie View guard Crystal Schultz is coming off a career-high 27-point performance in that loss, playing 34 minutes. She has averaged 14.0 points per game over her last five contests, providing the primary offensive spark for a team that has been held under 60 points in seven of its eight losses this season. Texas A&M holds a significant advantage in schedule strength. The Aggies’ two losses came against West Virginia and Texas-Arlington by a combined 19 points. Prairie View’s defeats include blowout losses to Power Five opponents Texas (101-42) and Oklahoma State (105-55). This game concludes the non-conference slate for both programs. Texas A&M will open Southeastern Conference play at home against Oklahoma on Jan. 1. Prairie View begins Southwestern Athletic Conference action on the road at Southern the same day. Sunday’s matchup is the first between the programs since the 2018-19 season. Texas A&M has won all six previous meetings. Tip-off is scheduled for Sunday afternoon at Reed Arena.
