WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (Interstat) — The Purdue Boilermakers look to continue their strong non-conference play at home when they host the struggling Jackson State Lady Tigers in a women’s basketball matchup Sunday at Mackey Arena. Purdue (7-4) enters the contest having won four of its last five, including dominant home victories over Dayton (80-43) and Lipscomb (88-45) earlier this month. The Boilermakers’ offense has been potent in West Lafayette, averaging 83.2 points in their five home wins. A key performer for Purdue has been guard Hila Karsh, who is coming off a 17-point effort in the win over Dayton. Karsh has averaged 12.3 points and 3.2 assists over her last six games, providing steady backcourt production. Jackson State (2-8) seeks to halt a three-game skid, most recently a 43-86 road loss at Illinois on Friday. The Lady Tigers have faced a rigorous early schedule, with all eight losses coming against power-conference opponents or strong mid-major programs. The Lady Tigers will rely on guard Leianya Massenat, their most consistent scoring threat. Massenat is averaging 10.2 points per game and scored 17 in a win over Gardner-Webb on Nov. 29. She logged 21 minutes and scored nine points in the loss to Illinois. For Purdue, this game serves as a final tune-up before resuming Big Ten play next week. The Boilermakers host Illinois on Dec. 28. Jackson State continues its challenging road swing, visiting Auburn on Dec. 29 before opening Southwestern Athletic Conference play in January. Sunday’s game tips off at 2 p.m. EST. Purdue holds a distinct advantage in record and has been formidable on its home court, while Jackson State searches for a signature road victory to reverse its early-season fortunes.
